Very good article. I especially liked the last paragraph.
Why does it cost $300-500 to put on an event? Unless the event manager is placing a huge newspaper ad, wouldn't the cost be fairly minimal?

I hate to see book clubs disappear. Such a shame!
I love book clubs. Wasn't it Oprah who brought it to an international level with her book club. All of her selections are stamped with an 'O,' and she encouraged people to have their own local - and online - clubs all over the country, all over the world.
It would be horrible to see book clubs disappear.
