The clutter article about the books kind of cracks me up. I don't really want to hear "clutter" and "books" in the same sentence, because books are happiness!

I will admit though, that I've shared some happiness over the years. I've bought a few at the thrift store, gave them a good read, and eventually took them back there again. For the most part though, I keep them. I re-read them, and I love to see them on my bookcase shelves. They're like a gauge for what I've read in my life, and what I want to read next.

I'm so glad the professional organizer allowed the books to be keepers!

Library Journal left out Terry Brooks' WORD AND VOID series, which was straight up urban fantasy set in Seattle. I believe the first in that series was pubbed in 1996.

And I think that the success of most of today typical urban fantasy actually owes a great debt of gratitude to Anne Rice (love her or hate her, she certainly started a trend) and the cult success of the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

yeah, I think they missed some things. But truthfully, urban fantasy really is a tough thing to define. Check out urban fantasy land's list (http://urbanfantasyland.wordpress.com/about/#uf).
