Contest

I'm thinking of putting together a trivia contest on the blog. Any ideas of what a winner should get?

a million dollar book deal? Or just a book deal period... or just a million dollars. All of the above would be fine with me. :)

If I could, I would.

Copies of your clients' books?

15 minutes of free career advice or a critique of a partial -- I'm thinking you'd lean toward the career advice b/c it takes less time ...

Query critique, pitch critique, first chapter critique?

Definitely a critique-a personalized review of an author's work is something you can't buy (well, you can, but we all know about those...).

Ah well, the suggestions are infinite. But a copy of a book would be nice.

I'm with the folks who said a critique! But I hope the trivia contest wouldn't involve anything too horrible...like reality TV. Or politics.

A critique of a query letter would be good. And please can the competition closing time take into account blog followers in different time zones like (hint, hint) South Africa.

I agree. Copies of your clients' books. I can make Jaye send me one anyway, but it's still fun.

Or do query critiques for those who need them, and books for those who don't. Or a plug on the blog. Or something of that nature. (Can you tell I love trivia contests and so want to play? But it doesn't seem fair to if the prize is a critique or something that I don't need; I wouldn't feel right about playing if that was the only prize.)

Prize? You sign the winner as a client? :-)

Client book would be nice, or query critique? Maybe some free legal advice?

I'm with Stacia's suggestion. A query/first chapter critique v. (signed?) books from one or two of your authors, depending on what the winner prefers.
